When quoting your tattoo concept, we take into consideration the size, the placement on the body, the level of detail, the time it will take, etc.
Our minimum tattoo price starts at $180, though individual artist’s hourly rates may vary.
Our artist will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions after your tattoo sitting.
If you have misplaced this… here are some brief tips!
We believe when looking after your fresh tatt friends that less is more.
Your tattoo is done and should now be freshly wrapped. Keep this protective wrap on for a few hours.
Remove the wrap and gently wash down with warm running water. Pat dry with a clean towel or paper towel.
Allow your tattoo to stay in the open air as much as possible for the first 48 hours so that it can breathe and dry out.
We recommend avoiding moisturisers or creams for the first 48-72 hours.
During the healing process, your tattoo will form scabs and become itchy and flakey. During this stage we recommend coconut oil once or twice a day to help ease discomfort.
Showering is fine but avoid submerging the tattoo during healing ie. baths, swimming, and saunas.
Also avoid friction and rubbing as much as possible while your tattoo heals.
Enjoy! And don’t pick your scabs!

Our studio opening hours are 11am – 6pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
We are available for both walk-ins and standard appointments during this time.
Private appointments can be made outside of these hours, subject to the individual artist's availability and discretion.
Walk-in clients are accepted on a first-come-first-served basis during our shop opening hours.
The availability of walk-in appointments depends on the timing and schedule of our artists.
Buttercat is easily accessible via public transport and close to several parking buildings, including:
- Leftbank Wilson Carpark - 181 Victoria Street
- Lombard Wilson Carpark - 28 Bond Street
- Hope Gibbons Carpark - 68 Taranaki Street
There is also a small public car park on the corner of Victoria and Ghuznee Street.
If you need to cancel or move your appointment, please give your artist a minimum of 2 days' notice.
In this instance, your deposit will be kept as store credit for you to reuse in the future.
If at least 2 days' notice is not given, you will forfeit your deposit and will need to pay a new one for any future bookings. This protects our artists from no-shows and last-minute cancellations.
We appreciate clients who respect our time and give as much notice as possible when rescheduling!

Yes. A non-refundable deposit payment is required for all tattoos – this is usually $100 for smaller bookings and $200 for day sittings.
This deposit is required after your initial consultation, in order to book your official tattoo sitting.
Your paid deposit will be taken off the final payment of your tattoo once the session is complete.
In-store consultations with our artists are free!

These can be booked via our booking page.
Currently, we only accept CASH payments and bank transfers.
There are several ATM machines within easy walking distance of the studio.
If you plan on paying in cash, please have it with you when you arrive for your appointment!
Some artists tattoo 16 - 18 year-olds, with parental consent. This is up to the individual artist’s discretion.
Otherwise, come back after your 18th birthday! :)
